2014 marks the 25th year that the KDSF National Centre was established to educate and train children with Down Syndrome from 2 months to 6 years old. Since its formation, close to a thousand children with Down Syndrome have graduated from the special education offered by the Centre.
To commemorate its twenty fifth year of establishment, the Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation organized a few events to further create more awareness of its cause and understanding about Down Syndrome, with a theme “UNLABEL TO UNDERSTAND”
The highlight of the events was the launching of the book “UNLABEL TO UNDERSTAND” by our patron, Y Bhg Toh Puan Ena Ling. In conjunction with the book launch, a 4-day awareness program, from 11 to 14 September 2014, were held at the Lower Ground Floor of the Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre. There were exhibition of photographs, performances by children from KDSF-NC, teaching methods and activities by the teachers, talk by medical professional, sale of the newly launched Coffee Table Book “UNLABEL TO UNDERSTAND”, together with special designed thematic T-shirts and Coffee Mugs as well as dialogues with the Parents Support Group.
We are truly grateful for the continuous support shown to the KDSF National Centre. We would like to thank everyone for making the launch and awareness program more meaningful and successful for us.
